Lost In The World
The general premise of this video centers around a young boy who feels alone in the world because everybody else is so focused on technology and blind to what is going on around them. I feel that the video is effective in conveying its intended message because it dramatizes and emphasizes current and future situations, in such ways as showing people walking off a cliff because they're so preoccupied with their phones, a girl jumping off of a building while everybody records but nobody cares, and a woman being harassed on a subway while nobody cares or notices. These elements depict a world in which nobody cares about one another, and triggers a sense of fear or dread in the audience, as well as sadness (since the song in the background has a very sad tone, and the whole video is in black and white). I think that the video is partially cautionary and partially an examination of our current societal situation because it is much more severe and dramatic that what is currently going on, but although it could truly become this serious in the future, many elements of the video are symbolic or representative of what is being currently observed in the world.
